I read Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is a story about her life growing up in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. The main characters in this story are Pa, Ma, Laura, Baby Carrie, and Mary. This story is about Laura and her family who are trying to survive in the Wisconsin woods. Pa hunts for animals. Ma cooks, cleans, and takes care of the animals. Laura and Mary help Ma cook and do chores. For fun, they like to play a game called Mad Dog with their dad. They also like to listen to their dad play the fiddle.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part was when their cousins came to play in the summer. Their cousin Charlie got hurt when he stepped on a yellow jackets’ nest. I like that part because I got to find out how they solved their problem. They wrapped Charlie in an old blanket. It must have scared Laura more than it scared me. I like this book because I think it is cool that Laura gets to wear a fur coat. One thing I learned from this story is how poor people hunted for food.

This is a story about a family that lived in a log house in the woods in Wisconsin. They lived a long time ago, about 1872. The main character is Laura and her family members were Ma, Pa, her sister Mary, and her baby sister Carrie. Pa hunts all the food, tells stories, sings and plays the fiddle for the little girls at night. Ma cooks and sews and takes care of the family. Laura and Mary have their own chores to do, but on Sunday they all rested and listened to Bible stories. Their house is the only house in the area of the woods. There are no people but many animals in the woods.
ReplyDeleteMany things happened to the family in this story. In the winter, it snowed and was very cold so the girls couldn’t play much outside. On Christmas day, Laura got some mittens, candy, and a new doll named Charlotte. Their cousins came and they played in the snow and made pictures. One day in the spring the family went to town. They rode in a wagon pulled by the horses. They went in the store and Ma traded and got fabric, sugar, and tea. Laura couldn’t believe how much things there were in the store. It was one of her best days. In the summer, days were long .They worked and played in the fields outside. One day her cousin got stung by lots of yellow jackets.
I think you should read this book because it is very interesting. Laura loves her family very much. This story is about the author Laura Ingalls Wilder when she was a little girl.

Little House in the Big Woods is a true story about a little girl,named Laura Ingalls, who lived deep in the woods in Wisconsin during the 1870's. The book was written by Laura herself. She wrote about her family.She lived with Pa, Ma, older sister Mary and baby sister Carrie. On their farm they also had lots of animals.
ReplyDeleteThey had to grow there own food and make their own clothes. Pa had to hunt wild animals for them to have meat. They had no televisions or video games. At night, pa would tell stories and play his fiddle. One story was about a tree that he thought was a bear.
My favorite part was when they got to go to town. At the store, Pa traded furs for sugar and fabric. Ma used the fabric to make dresses. Sometimes, Mary and Laura were able to get some candy and they always shared with baby Carrie.

The first book that I read this summer was Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is the story about the adventures of a small family and how they survived through hard times. The main characters in Little House in the Big Woods were Laura Ingalls, a young girl that was the middle daughter in the Ingalls’ family and was the narrator of the story. The other main characters were Laura’s sisters, Mary and Carrie, her father, Charles (or as she called him, “Pa”), and her mother, Ma. The Ingalls family lived in a little cabin in the big woods of Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book was where Pa learned to never go into the woods without his gun. I liked this because going into the woods was dangerous, and if Pa had not been prepared and had not brought his gun, he may have been killed by an animal. This helped me understand how important planning and being prepared is. This showed me that being prepared is important to doing well at school also. Another lesson that I learned from Little House in the Big Woods is that we can be grateful for what we have even in tough times. Even though Laura’s family had to work very hard, they were still happy and had what they needed to survive.

Laura and Mary couldn't wait to see their cousins because they enjoyed playing with them. When it was time for bed, Pa took out his fiddle and played them a song. On Christmas day they looked at their stockings and saw what was inside.

Little House in the Big Woods was a good book. They lived in a gray log house in the middle of the big woods of Wisconsin. Laura’s life is much different than the life we live today. They have no cars or electricity. They have to use candles instead. They have rag dolls and rarely have candy. Now, we can have candy whenever we want.
ReplyDeletePa tells really great stories. One of my favorite stories is about Grandpa and the panther. Grandpa was on his horse when the panther attacked him. Little House in the Big Woods was a book full of adventure and excitement. I loved this book.

A funny part was when Pa thought he saw a real bear on his way to town, but it was just a log that was shaped like a bear. I learned that poor people trade items to buy things. I liked this book because it is about a family that lived in Wisconsin in the big woods.

Laura and Mary's family lived in a tiny house in Wisconsin. Their house was made out of logs. Pa killed animals to eat. Laura's doll was made out of cornhusks. They lived in the middle of the woods but one day they went to town and bought sugar at the store.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite parts were the stories Pa liked to tell. One story Pa told Laura and Mary was that when he was a little boy he and his two brothers snuck out while his dad was sleeping. He told about one night when he was coming home and he thought he saw a bear. When he came up close he realized that it was a tree stump not a bear. Another part I liked was the story Pa told about Grandpa getting chased by a panther.

Little House in the Big Woods is about a family living in the 1800s. Back then, there were no real roads and they used horses and sleds for transportation. The kids called their parents, "ma" and "pa". The houses were made of logs and had no electricity. The father would have to hunt all the time to feed the family. The little girls would stay home with the mother and do household chores.
ReplyDeleteLife in the 1800s was very different than now. Families had guard dogs to protect them from wild animals at night. The father always carried his gun. My favorite parts in the book were when Pa told stories to the girls. His stories were always mind blowing adventures.

ReplyDeleteLaura is a little girl who lived in the big woods in Wisconsin. She had a sister named Mary. Laura and Mary's favorite toy was a corn husk doll. My favorite part was when they thought a bear was Sukey the cow and Ma slapped it. Pa and Ma have to do a lot of work on the land. Laura and Mary went to there grandmas house and had a big dance after they at food. When they went to the city Pa and Ma traded while the kids looked at candy.
Laura and Mary went to their cousin's house, Charley. Charley kept on playing jokes on his dad. He would scream as if he were in pain, but at the end Charley really was screaming because yellow jackets were stinging him. His Grandma put dirt on him and wrapped him in a blanket. After this Laura and Mary went back to the little house. It was time for the threshers to come with their machine. This made Pa tired but at night Pa would play his fiddle as Mary and Laura fell asleep.
